"Upsetting the "normal" while creating the beautiful." Annette Kruschek |
As a young child we are taught to "color within the lines". This is where everyone does the same thing with different colors. If you drew outside the lines, you were reprimanded for doing so. As an adult, coloring within the lines is doing what everyone else does.
A couple of weeks ago Clara proudly showed off her masterpiece to Isaac and he commented on how good it was. He said, "Oh Clara that is awesome. You are getting so good; you almost colored inside the lines." That comment never left my mind. While I totally know that Isaac was being the sweet and supportive brother I also found myself thinking about how it is so similar to how we live our daily lives... coloring inside the lines. While I am huge believer in rule following I am also a supporter of masterpieces that are unique; staying outside of the lines, blending many colors and taking risks with your picture. I believe every family has their own set of ideas of what makes a great piece of art. For our family, my new motto is "we color outside the lines". Our picture may look different. It may even look a bit messy and confusing to the outsiders looking at it. Dan and I knew many years ago that coloring outside the lines was what God has called us to do. He has equipped us with these beautiful colors and a wonderful landscape to really show off his glory. I am here to let you all know that our picture is going to get a lot brighter! Our little box of crayons has room for one more color. A little boy who is living on the other side of the world has rocked our world in the best way possible. We have decided to step out in complete faith, enter deep waters and welcome home another child into our family. Our kids couldn't be more excited. What led us to him is truly a beautiful story that only God could script and one that will be shared someday. Let me just say that God absolutely puts people in your life for a specific reason. Keep your eyes, ears and heart open because you never know how God will work in your life. Our path does look different to many. I am certain many of you have your own set of questions but please know that what you are feeling has absolutely been thought through by Dan and I. We know the risks. We know the tiredness, the busyness the loudness and the expense BUT we also know the healing, the happiness, the beauty, the faithfulness and the LOVE. We have weighed all the questions and the answer is very easy for us... we choose faith over fear. We choose healing over illness. We choose home over orphanage and we choose family... a forever family. None of this would be possible without God. He is the reason we continue to get out of the boat. Without him, Dan and I would never ever take our life jackets off. Without him, Dan and I would have never let our little boat leave the shore. God is the person who gets all of the glory. Our family has seen how faith and love work together. Hand in hand our family will work together to bring this little boy HOME. We couldn't do this without our children. They continue to teach Dan and I so much of what it means to love until it hurts. Life isn't about being comfortable. Life is about people. In the end God will not ask to see your bank account he will only care about one thing and that is LOVE. Did you love? Did you listen to his voice when he spoke to you in that small little whisper? Did you trust him... TRULY trust him? We are trusting God with our picture. We are believing him when he told us our masterpiece wasn't complete yet. We have faith that coloring outside of the lines right now is absolutely the right thing to do in order for our picture to really shine. Our family hopes you will continue to follow along in our journey to bring home our little boy. I assure you this is a picture you will not want to miss! The details of our little boy will be coming to you soon. Until then please pray for him. Pray for his health and pray for his heart. Psalm 34:17 When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears, and rescues them from all their troubles. Thank you all who continue to support and love us the way you do. Our family is better because of you in it. We love you!
